ประวัติ 

บ้านมนังคศิลา มีรูปแบบที่ได้รับอิทธิพลสถาปัตยกรรมแบบทิวดอร์ของอังกฤษ ลักษณะเด่นคือผนังก่ออิฐที่ทำไม้ตีประดับเป็นกรอบโครงคล้ายอาคาร half-timber หลังคาไม้ทรงสูง รูปทรงหลังคาซับซ้อน ประดับด้วยมุข และเปิดจั่วในบางด้าน ตกแต่งอาคารด้วยคิ้วไม้ ไม้แกะสลักและมีการใช้ทิวดอร์อาร์ชในส่วนช่องเปิดและซุ้มโค้ง

บ้านหลังนี้สร้างขึ้นในรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว บนที่ดินซึ่งพระราชทานแก่พระยาอุดมราชภักดี (โถ สุจริตกุล) และโปรดเกล้าฯพระราชทานนามว่า “บ้านมนังคศิลา” ออกแบบโดยนายเอ็ดวาร์ด ฮีลี สถาปนิกชาวอังกฤษ

ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2495 บ้านมนังคศิลาได้ถูกโอนกรรมสิทธิ์ไปเป็นของธนาคารเอเชีย รัฐบาลได้ยืมจากธนาคารเพื่อใช้เป็นบ้านพักรับรอง และเป็นที่ทำการพรรคเสรีมนังคศิลาอยู่ช่วงหนึ่ง จนในปี 2503 ธนาคารแห่งประเทศไทยได้ขอซื้อบ้านมนังคศิลาจากธนาคารเอเชีย นำมามอบให้กระทรวงการคลังเพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนกับการขอใช้พื้นที่วังบางขุนพรหมต่อไป ดังนนั้นบ้านมนังคศิลาจึงตกเป็นของกรมธนารักษ์ และได้ใช้เป็นที่ทำการหน่วยงานต่างๆ จนในปี 2518 จึงได้ใช้เป็นที่ทำการสภาสตรีแห่งชาติในพระบรมราชินูปถัมภ์มาจนทุกวันนี้

History 

Manangkhasila House is building influenced by Tudor architecture. It feature wood-battedned walls, an imitation to half-timber structure, high pitched roof instricately designed and decorated with dormers and gables, wooden moulding and Tudor arches. 

The building was built in King Rama VI’s reign, on the land that the king gave to Phraya Udomratchaphakdi (Tho Sucharitkul). The house was designed by Mr. Edward Healy and English architect, and was named “Ban Manangkhasila”, by the King.

In 1952, the house ownership was transferred to Bank Asia and the government had borrowed the house to be used as a reception house, and later, the office of Seri Manangkhasila political party. In 1960, it was bought by the Bank of Thailand to be given to the Ministry of Finance as an exchange for continuing the use of Wang Bang Khun Phrom. Since then the property has been used by several government offices, and from 1975 until today, it became the house of the National Council of Women of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen.
